Two CLASSIC S-Series guitars for SALE

A customer in Europe is upgrading his collection to more expensive Teye-guitars, and has asked to part-exchange his two ORIGINAL, Pre-S-Plus option, classic S-SERIES guitars.
So we will have two S-Series Classic guitars for sale, with nice low prices on them:

S-Series “La India”, serial number S-0009: an early example of the S-Series, LOW serial number. $ 3200
S-Series “La Mora”, serial number S-0023: this one already has the shaped pickup rings. $ 3400 (sold)

These are full S-Series guitars with all the sounds and feel, at an unbeatable price-point. They are equipped with TonePros bridge and tailpiece, but can be ordered to have the Teye Sustain bridge and tailpiece installed here at the shop for $ 225 extra.

Teye-guitars now has presence on Facebook and Twitter. Teye himself is still stuck in dinosauria with e-mail and non-web non-camera cellphone, but kind spirits have upped the ante and you can now kiss, hug, tweet, or slam us in the New Webworld!

NAMM – booth 1268

It’s official: we will have our own NAMM booth this year: booth 1268 in the E-hall (downstairs), together with Ugly Amps, whom Teye met on the Philadelphia guitar show of 2006. They immediately became friends by a shared sense of humor. Teye immediately dug the first Ugly Amp, a modded Fender blackface combo with tubes sticking out the front panel, and sounding great. Steve immediately dug the Electric Gypsy La India #006. And Teye ended up hanging around in the Ugly booth quite often.

So come on by! Please remember that we are registered under ‘GYPSY GUITAR COMPANY’.

News on the double-neck

The already infamous Teye-double-neck (or ‘Doubly’ as she is referred to at the shop, as in ‘It shoulda been mixed in dobly shouldn’t it?) has the finish cured, and is now in the process of being put together!

Here, the engraved switch plates are put in place…

…so that Teye can wire her up (and in order to be a versatile yet intuitive players’ dream, she has to be a soldering nightmare)…

…and so this is where she is at right now (stay tuned!):

Double-neck progress

The doubly that Teye is making ‘just for kicks and giggles’, and of course to show to himself that he can pull this off, is already garnering interest and possible customers…

OK. Progress:

today, the maple cap got glued on, after Derek helped Teye in scraping clean the neck and headstock bindings.

We used clamps to get the edges, and the 12-ton shop press to join the bridge area. Scary, the 12ton press can easily break this guitar and you’d never get a warning…

After the weekend: cap is on; finish is on. It needs to cure some more, then we can proceed…

So, Teye is in the midst of constructing a two-necked monster. What are the major flaws of double-necked guitars?

Who needs them?
Rotten balance on the strap (totally neck-heavy)
Way too heavy as an instrument

Teye’s solutions:

The 12-string portion of the Teye-doubleneck, like Jan Akkerman’s doubly (made by Anno Galama in the mid-seventies) is set up to have the strings not an octave, but rather a fifth apart. This creates a rich soundscape not achieved by any other guitar (listen to the superb album ‘Eli’ by Kaz Lux and Jan Akkerman).

So, you

DO need one.
By cleverly chambering the body, even chambering the headstock, and setting the necks slightly different, the Teye does NOT dive to the ground.
Weight-wise, it is …about the same as the average Electric Gipsy single-neck guitar, by careful selecting the wood, chambering, and other weight-watcher-tricks.

6-string-neck:

totally a full Electric Gypsy guitar with 25.5″ scale length, 3 Lollar hum-buckers
two volume knobs, 1 master Mood-knob, and 1 master Tone knob
5-way switching like the EG: bridge / br+mid / br+neck / mid+neck / neck pick-up.

12-string neck:

neck set at an ergonomic angle w the 6-string (not parallel)
24.75″ scale length (like a Gibson), for less tension on the 12-string (it resonates well enough already!)
2 Jason Lollar hum-bucking pick-ups with 3-position toggle and single master volume knob
chambered headstock
mini-Grover tuners
Master-Mood and Tone knobs work also on the 12-string neck

global:

the switch to activate the 12-neck sits right by the 6-neck
switch to activate the 6-neck sits right by the 12-neck (this makes neck switching w/out silence easier)
super-light and small body: this guitar will fit in most regular rectangular guitar cases!
not awkward to play.
