Also, TKL has granted my wish of a stronger force in holding the butt of the case together: not only have they moved the one latch: they’ve added a 5th one for unsurpassed closing grip (the 5th latch is not in the photo of the prototype)

The people at TKL have been more than helpful in putting this case together and we are very proud to be working with them. And – get this – all cases are Made in Virginia, not China. While we wish the people of China the very best, we still believe in keeping jobs for our friends and neighbors, too many of whom can’t find a decent job because it was moved elsewhere.

Aha! We finally got it together. How long have people told us: “The only things that don’t suit your guitars are the plastic knobs and switch tip.” Now we have them: Our Very Own….

Beginning in late April of this year, guitars will be shipped with the new and stylish Teye-designed volume and tone knobs, and an A-series switch tip. There will be a price increase.

For a limited time, guitars can still be ordered with the old generic plastic knobs and switch tip. Also, for a limited time, Teye-guitar owners who want to upgrade to the new controls will have a chance to do this at an introductory price.

Any questions, just ask.

Here’s Teye’s own ‘La Perla Joya’ outfitted with the production prototypes. They not only look great, they also turn and feel great. These knobs will later in the year also appear on the Teye-amps.

To all my customers who see the need to sell their Teye(s):

If you so desire, I will list your guitar for sale on my web site. No charge nor percentage is asked for this service.

If you list your guitars on eBay, please do not promise my Limited Lifetime Warranty. It is unjust to both the potential buyer and to me.

There has been a questioning of my not standing behind my guitars, by refusing to offer warranty to guitars sold on eBay. Of course I stand behind my guitars, and I will of course service any Teye-guitar. But it will not be under warranty, warranty only applies when you are the original customer. Am I the only one that does it like this?

My warranty has always been listed on eBay without anyone ever asking me first. This is why I have several disclaimers on my web site that clearly state that any ‘warranty’ promised on eBay will not come from me.

I will from now on immediately report any listing that promises my warranty. It is simply unfair to offer my services for free without me knowing about it.

There have been several guitars of mine on eBay, and usually they come with a promise of ‘Limited Lifetime Warranty’. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I AM NOT LISTING GUITARS ON eBAY, AND AM NOT EXTENDING WARRANTY ON THOSE.

If a seller is prepared to offer you a full Limited Lifetime Warranty, let him do it. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THERE ARE NO NEW TEYE GUITARS ON eBay. Since the guitars on eBay are – dead mint or not – second hand guitars, I cannot offer a warranty on them, since I do not know what happened to them after they left my workshop.

Some dealers who sell my guitars used on eBay criticize me for this, and insist I should offer full warranty on instruments I haven’t seen in years.

My official dealers do not sell on eBay. They will often match the eBay prices with a nice discount, but they DO NOT SELL VIA EBAY! My official dealers would drop me in a heartbeat if I treated one-off eBay dealers the same as I treat my official dealers, and rightly so. eBay is a place where you take your chances.

I urge my customers to go through official channels. For S and T series, this means via my official dealers; for S-Custom-Plus, special requests, and A-series, either via my dealers or via me directly. No one else can repair the electronics if something does go wrong, and why take the chance on instruments of this price and prestige?

Another thing: an earlier serial number is NOT BETTER. I wasn’t born with the full knowledge of a guitar maker in my genes, and then slowly forgot, year by year. My newer instruments are not worse than my older ones, but actually BETTER, because I learn all the time. Only in the case of the factory made guitars, earlier is better (i.e. back when they still gave a sh*t) and their newer stuff is only made for maximum profit. If you do not believe any of this, please contact any of the guys who have been following my work from the beginning, and ask them.

Again, buy my guitars on eBay if you must, but please do not expect any (free) action on my part on them. Who knows where they’ve been.
